I got a financial aid package from VFX Apprentice for 6 months, so this is me keeping a diary of my progress! I am a complete newbie so I thought it would be interesting to track the next 6 months.
Day 0, as I haven’t actually activated the All Access package yet, so I am working through the free course. I’ve been watching some of the student interviews and it’s giving me lots of motivation, seeing their interviews and seeing which companies they’ve ended up at on LinkedIn.
Speaking of LinkedIn if anyone ever reads this, check if your local authority/library etc have access to Linkedin Learning, I’ve realised mine offers it for free, so I am using it to watch some basic animation courses alongside VFX Apprentice and using the Adobe free trial to do animate.
I am slowly working through the Intro to Animate course, really enjoying it as Jason has a really clear style and it gives you confidence, as Animate isn’t something I have dealt with before.
My first little one is really, really bad. The movement doesn’t make any sense, really, but I wasn’t really trying to do anything good style, more just getting used to the tools, the shortcuts, and just trying to follow along.

I then did my own, just to try and use the software without the video, its bad! Was trying to do a sword type power up, again, it looks weird, timing is way off, doesn’t make any sense and my drawing is bad! But was happy I could do get through it without having to refer to the video for software help

I followed along tracing with Jason’s Cleanup video, to get far more of a feel of it, while trying to adapt a little bit to finish off the day
